Compressed paper and fibreglass cone, large “R” suspension, 180 °C aluminium winding. Sold per unit. Manufacturer's recommended vented box: 100 L tuned to 30 Hz.

Why this subwoofer
Not a burst figure: 500 W RMS is the power the voice coil handles continuously, with 1000 W of peak headroom on top.
The bigger the coil, the more heat it dissipates and the longer it survives a real session. Wound with 180 °C aluminium wire.
Two coils: in parallel 1 ohm, in series 4 ohm. You choose the impedance that matches your amplifier instead of the other way round.
A 85 oz Y30 ferrite magnet under a compressed paper and fibreglass cone with a large “R” suspension: 12 mm Xmax of usable excursion.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Decide the impedance before you wire it. The two 2 ohm coils in parallel give 1 ohm; in series they give 4 ohm. Check that your amplifier is stable at the impedance you choose.
- Match the amplifier to 500 W RMS. Sizing on the 1000 W peak figure means overdriving the coil: use the RMS value.
- Build the enclosure rigid. The manufacturer gives a vented box of 100 L tuned to 30 Hz: thick panels, braced and sealed, or the box will lose output and rattle.
- Size the power cable for the amplifier with an inline fuse close to the battery and a ground point on bare metal.
