Why AGM

Instant high current

Low internal resistance: high current peaks with minimal voltage drop, ideal for bass transients.

Sealed, maintenance-free

Electrolyte absorbed in glass-fibre separators: no topping up, no free liquid.

Compact construction

Plates and separators compressed inside the case: a sturdy build suited to vehicle use.

Gas recombination

Water is not consumed in normal use: the battery stays sealed for its whole life.

Read the state of charge

REST VOLTAGE CHARGE WHAT TO DO
≥ 12.80 V 100 % Fully charged. Ready to use.
12.55 V ≈ 75 % Good. Recharge at the next opportunity.
12.30 V ≈ 50 % Recharge now: do not leave it in this state.
12.00 V ≈ 25 % Discharged. Recharge immediately with an AGM charger.
≤ 11.80 V ≈ 0 % Fully discharged: risk of sulphation. Recharge within a few hours.
< 10.5 V Deep discharge Probable, irreversible damage. Not covered by warranty.

INDICATIVE VALUES AT 25 °C, MEASURED ON THE POSTS WITH A DIGITAL MULTIMETER AFTER AT LEAST 6 HOURS OF REST

04

Charge it right

Smart charger with an AGM program. Nothing else.

Bulk at constant current, absorption at 14.4–14.7 V, then float at 13.5–13.8 V to offset self-discharge without overcharging. Every valve opening caused by overcharging releases gas and water that cannot be replaced.

Forbidden: jump starters (boosters), truck chargers, fast chargers, unregulated power supplies, GEL programs and high-voltage “desulphation/recondition” modes not intended for AGM.
Alternator: with the engine running, typically 13.8–14.8 V at the terminals. After long listening sessions with the engine off, always finish with the charger.

Complete the system

06

Before you install it

  • Boot or cabin, never the engine bay in high-performance systems: away from engine, exhaust and heat sources. Every 10 °C above 25 °C halves the expected life.
  • One fuse (ANL / mini ANL) on the positive of each battery, within 30 cm of the post and sized to the cable gauge.
  • Secure it with strong brackets or straps: it must not move under braking or in a collision. Do not enclose it in airtight boxes.
  • Connect the positive first, then the negative; to disconnect, remove the negative first. Ignition and system off, no metal tools on the battery.
  • In parallel, only identical batteries: same model, age and state of charge, each fully charged first, link cables of equal length and gauge.

Questions installers ask

How do I check the state of charge?Measure the rest voltage on the posts with a digital multimeter, after at least 6 hours with no loads or charger connected. 12.80 V or more is fully charged, 12.30 V is about 50 %: recharge now.
Which charger should I use?An electronic smart charger with an AGM program: absorption 14.4–14.7 V, float 13.5–13.8 V. Maximum recommended charge current for the SP-80A: 16 A (0.2 C). Never boosters or fast chargers.
Can I install it in the engine bay?Not in high-performance systems. The engine bay easily exceeds 60 °C and heat halves the expected life every 10 °C above 25 °C: install it in the boot or in the cabin.
My system needs more power. What do I do?Connect several identical batteries in parallel: same model, age and state of charge, each fully charged first, with link cables of equal length and gauge and one fuse on each positive.
What does the warranty cover?1 year (12 months) from the date of purchase, against defects in materials and workmanship, confirmed by technical inspection. Deep discharge, overcharging, boosters, heat and mechanical damage are not covered.
