Why this tweeter
A bullet tweeter is built for pressure, not politeness. At 114 dB the SP TW 55 stays clearly on top of the midrange and the sub, on very few watts.
44.4 mm of CCAW winding. A big coil dissipates more heat and moves more air, which is how a tweeter takes 175 W RMS continuously and not just in bursts.
A 12 oz motor behind the horn: more drive force means the coil is controlled at high level, where a small motor starts to compress.
The price is for one tweeter. Buy two for a front stage, or four, six and up for an SPL wall, without paying for pairs you do not need.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Never connect it straight to the amplifier. A bullet tweeter always needs a crossover, or at the very least a capacitor in series. Full range on a tweeter destroys the voice coil in seconds.
- Cross it high, not low. This is a super tweeter: it plays the top of the range and nothing else. The mid-bass belongs to the midrange, the bass to the subwoofer.
- Do not go below 4 ohm per channel. Two of these in parallel on one channel gives 2 ohm: most amplifiers will heat up or go into protection. One tweeter per channel is the safe way.
- Aim it, and set the gain low. The horn is directional, so point it at the listener; then bring the level up slowly. Clipping kills tweeters far more often than power does.
