Why this midrange
One watt in, almost 100 dB out. On a 400 W channel this is the loudest midrange of the whole SP Audio line.
76.2 mm of voice coil wound with 220 °C aluminium wire and double the excursion of the standard MM: it takes 400 W RMS and keeps moving air.
Nearly two and a half kilos of ferrite behind the cone. More magnetic force means more control at full excursion.
Unusually wide for a big 10": from 80 Hz up to 15 kHz, so the voice stays full and present even before the tweeter comes in.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Do not go below 4 ohm per channel. Two speakers in parallel on one channel give 2 ohm: most amplifiers will heat up or go into protection.
- Use a high-pass filter. This is a midrange, not a woofer: cut below 80 Hz and let the subwoofer do the bass. Feeding it low notes is the fastest way to damage it.
- Set the gain properly. Clipping kills voice coils far more often than power does.
- Check the numbers first. Cut-out 232.5 mm, outer 261 mm, depth 114 mm: it wants a door pod, a kick panel or a custom baffle, solidly fixed.
