Battery terminals · 1 × 8 GA · blister

1 × 8 GA.
Two clamps, one job.

The SP-BT 30 is a pair of copper-finish battery terminals, positive and negative, for 8 GA cable, supplied on a ready-to-hang blister card. A ring closes around the post with a stainless clamp bolt and nut, and a two-bolt wire clamp plate grips the stripped cable directly: no soldering, no crimping tools.

Why this terminal

Why 8 GA matters

8 GA (≈ 8.4 mm²) is the classic gauge for a single amplifier or accessory line. The wire clamp is sized for it: no adaptors.

Why two clamp bolts matter

Two bolts spread the clamping force along the conductor, so the cable does not pull out and the contact stays tight.

Why a pair matters

Both terminals in one blister: you replace positive and negative together, so both connections age at the same rate.

Stainless post bolt

A stainless steel clamp bolt with nut closes the ring on the post until the terminal cannot rotate by hand.

Compact clamp body

60 × 30 × 26 mm: fits tight battery bays.

Complete the system

Before you install it

  • Disconnect the negative first. Remove the negative (−) terminal first and reconnect it last. Never let a tool touch the positive post and the bodywork at the same time.
  • Fuse the circuit. Any cable taken from the battery positive needs an inline fuse within 20 cm of the terminal, never rated higher than the cable can carry.
  • Correct cable only. The wire clamp is made for 8 GA (≈ 8.4 mm²). Do not force thicker cable, do not cut strands to make it fit.
  • Check the post size. The ring must close around the post with the clamp bolt still able to tighten: a terminal that closes on itself without gripping is too big.
  • 12 V systems only. For 12 V negative-ground passenger-vehicle batteries. Not for 24 V trucks or as a mains connector.

Questions installers ask

Which cable does the SP-BT 30 take? One 8 GA cable (≈ 8.4 mm²) per terminal, gripped by a two-bolt clamp plate. Strip about the length of the plate and tighten both bolts evenly.
Do I need crimping or soldering? No. The wire clamp plate grips the stripped cable directly: no soldering and no crimping tools.
What should I measure after installing it?About 12.4–12.8 V DC with the engine off and 13.5–14.4 V DC running; joint resistance below 0.1 Ω and less than 0.2 V of drop across a joint at full load.
The terminal turns on the post. Why?The clamp bolt is not tight, or the post is larger than the ring. Tighten the bolt; if the ring closes without gripping, the terminal is too big for that post.
What current does it handle? The manufacturer does not declare a current rating. Use 8 GA cable and a fuse rated for the cable: ask us and we will check your system with you.
