A 38 mm dome that mixes aluminium-magnesium alloy and silk: the alloy gives the detail, the silk takes the hardness away. 90 dB, 4 ohm, up to 25 kHz. It adds the highs the door speaker cannot reach. Sold as a pair.

Why this tweeter
38 mm of aluminium-magnesium alloy and silk. The alloy keeps the detail up high, the silk takes away the metallic edge that makes long drives tiring.
200 W peak, 100 W continuous per tweeter. It will not be the weak link of a system built around a 100 W channel.
1" / 25 mm ASV voice coil wound with KCCAW wire: the surface that dissipates heat is what lets a tweeter survive real volume.
Cymbals, strings, the air around a voice. The part of the recording a 6.5" door speaker simply cannot reproduce.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Never connect a tweeter without a filter. A crossover, or at the very least a capacitor in series: full range straight from the amplifier will destroy the voice coil in seconds. This is not optional.
- Stay well above its lower limit. The SP TW 18 starts at 1 kHz: high-pass it above that and let the midrange do everything below.
- Keep 4 ohm per channel. Two tweeters in parallel on one channel give 2 ohm: most amplifiers heat up or go into protection.
- Aim it, then set the gain. A tweeter pointed at your ears sounds twice as loud. Turn it up with the crossover in place and stop before the amplifier clips: clipping kills tweeters, power rarely does.
