The MIDRANGE EXTREME line in the standard 6.5"/16.5 cm size: 98.1 dB, a 40 Oz ferrite motor, a 38.5 mm (1.5") CCAW voice coil and a solid aluminium phase plug. Twice the power of the best seller, in the same hole. Sold as a pair.

Why this midrange
Two decibels over the best seller means the same amplifier plays almost twice as loud. This is the 6.5" for SPL builds on a 4-channel amp.
38.5 mm of copper-clad aluminium winding: light enough to stay fast, big enough to take 200 W RMS without complaining.
A solid aluminium plug in the centre of the cone: it keeps the response clean off-axis and pulls heat away from the voice coil.
165 mm nominal, 4 ohm, M-ROLL polycotton surround: extreme output without touching the door sheet metal.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Do not go below 4 ohm per channel. Two speakers in parallel on one channel give 2 ohm: most amplifiers will heat up or go into protection.
- Use a high-pass filter. This is a midrange, not a woofer: cut below 80 Hz and let the subwoofer do the bass. Feeding it low notes is the fastest way to damage it.
- Set the gain properly. Clipping kills voice coils far more often than power does.
- Plan the top end. It runs to 10 kHz: pair it with a tweeter for the last octaves, crossed where the tweeter allows.
