The SP-EM 6.5 is the simple midrange: 6.5"/16.5 cm, 95 dB, 4 ohm and a 30.5 mm EISV voice coil. Enough continuous power for a normal door, a sensitivity high enough to play loud without a big amplifier, and a standard frame that drops into the factory hole. Sold as a pair.

Why this midrange
Sensitivity is what turns watts into volume. At 95 dB, 100 W RMS per channel is already a loud, full front stage inside a car.
One hundred watts of continuous power, not a burst figure. That is the number your amplifier has to match, and the number this speaker lives on every day.
1.2 inches of coil is a lot of surface for a 100 W midrange: more winding in the gap means the heat of a long evening has somewhere to go.
165 mm nominal, 4 ohm: it replaces the factory speaker in most doors, so the install is a swap and not a project.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Do not go below 4 ohm per channel. Two speakers in parallel on one channel give 2 ohm: most amplifiers will heat up or go into protection.
- Use a high-pass filter. This is a midrange, not a woofer: cut below 100 Hz and let the subwoofer do the bass. Feeding it low notes is the fastest way to damage it.
- Match the amplifier to 100 W RMS. Far more than 100 W RMS per channel, badly set, is how a midrange dies. Set the gain properly: clipping kills voice coils more often than power does.
- Seal the door panel. A midrange in an open door loses mid-bass: sound-deaden the panel and you gain more than changing the speaker.
